Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Every estimate is free and comes with no obligation. Call us or request a free quote online, and we’ll come out, measure, and walk you through your options.

What areas do you serve?
We serve Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Cheney, Medical Lake, Airway Heights, Deer Park, Mead, Nine Mile Falls, and Otis Orchards, plus Post Falls, Coeur d’Alene, and Rathdrum in North Idaho.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. All-Star Fence is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. We’re also Spokane’s only fence installer certified by the Accreditation and Certification Institute (ACI).

Do you do residential and commercial work?
Yes. We install fencing for homes, businesses, rental properties, and commercial sites of every size.

How long have you been in business?
We’ve been building fences in the Spokane area since 2012, and we’re locally owned and operated.

Fence Types & Materials

What types of fences do you install?
We install vinyl, wood (cedar and pressure-treated), chain link, ornamental steel and aluminum, privacy fences, and fully custom designs.

Which fence material is best for Spokane’s climate?
Vinyl and powder-coated ornamental steel handle Spokane’s freeze-thaw winters and hot summers with almost no maintenance. Cedar offers a classic natural look but needs staining or sealing every few years. Chain link is the most budget-friendly and very durable. We’ll help you choose based on your budget, style, and how much upkeep you want.

What’s the best fence for privacy?
A 6-foot vinyl or cedar privacy fence is the most popular choice. Both block views completely and can be built in a variety of styles.

Do you install gates?
Yes. We build walk gates, double drive gates, and custom gates to match any fence style.

Can I buy materials and install the fence myself?
Yes. We offer DIY fence material packages with everything you need for a professional-grade install, without the labor cost.

Cost & Timeline

How much does a new fence cost?
Cost depends on the material, the length and height of the fence, your terrain, and the number of gates. Chain link is typically the most affordable, followed by wood, with vinyl and ornamental steel at the higher end. Your free estimate will give you an exact price with no surprises.

How long does installation take?
Most residential fences are installed in just a few days once materials are ready. Larger or commercial projects may take longer. We’ll give you a clear timeline with your estimate.

When should I schedule my fence?
As early as possible. Spring and summer are our busiest seasons, so booking ahead helps you get the install date you want. We install year-round when ground conditions allow.

Do you offer financing?
Ask us about payment options when you request your estimate, and we’ll go over what’s available.

Permits, Property Lines & Rules

Do I need a permit for a fence?
It depends on your city, the fence height, and where it sits on your property. Rules differ between Spokane, Spokane Valley, and surrounding towns. We’ll help you understand what’s required for your project.

Do I need to know my property lines?
Yes. Property owners are responsible for knowing where their lines are. If you’re unsure, we recommend a survey before installation to avoid disputes with neighbors.

What about HOA rules?
Check your HOA’s fence guidelines before your project starts. Many HOAs set rules on height, material, and color, and we’re happy to build a fence that meets them.

Do you handle utility locates?
Yes. Before any digging, underground utilities are marked through the free 811 call-before-you-dig service, so your installation is safe and your utility lines are protected.

Installation & Care

How do you set your fence posts?
We set posts in concrete, below the frost line, to resist frost heave through Spokane winters. It’s one of the biggest differences between a fence that lasts and one that leans after a few years.

Can you install a fence on a slope or uneven ground?
Yes. We can step or rack the fence to follow your terrain, so it looks clean and stays secure on hills and uneven lots.

Do you remove my old fence?
Yes. We can tear out and haul away your old fence as part of your project. Just let us know when you request your estimate.

Do you repair existing fences?
Yes. We handle fence repairs and replacements, from leaning posts and broken panels to damaged gates.

Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind our workmanship, and many of our materials also carry manufacturer warranties. We’ll go over the warranty details for your fence with your estimate.

How do I care for my new fence?
Vinyl and ornamental steel just need an occasional rinse. Wood fences last longest when sealed or stained every 2 to 3 years. Keep sprinklers, soil, and plants from sitting against the fence to prevent moisture damage.

We lost our old fence in a windstorm and All Star worked back and forth with our insurance company to ensure we received full funds to replace it. The new one is beautiful and their service was top notch!

Dylan came to fix a Vinyl fence that had separated do to wind event. He fixed the problem and charged us $0. Highly appreciated. I knew it was a good company when they installed the fence 10 years ago.

The team at All-Star Fence did an exceptional job working with us and our neighbors during the installation last summer! After the recent windstorm one panel came apart, they came back earlier than anticipated and made all necessary repairs. Fantastic job! I would highly recommend this company for any fencing needs.

I had to come back and fix my review. They're really nice but originally my gate didn't open or close right. They came back out and as adjusted it, which marginally fixed the problem but it still catches on the fence. I called them and they came back and fixed this. I also hate that they used a blow torch and melted the plastic slats on my fence. They ended up changing out a bent gate, replacing some posts, and adding 2 new gates. I really appreciate that they came back out until they made it right.

Had All Star build and install a custom gate. They were prompt, professional and delivered on their promise for a quality gate. Excellent overall experience from getting a quote to the finished install. Hats off to the entire crew.
